Galtaji TempleThe Galtaji Temple is situated close to the Sisodina Rani ka Bagh on the Agra-Jaipur highway, at a distance of 10 kms from Jaipur. This temple was built by Diwan Rao Kriparam in the 18th century and is dedicated to the Sun God and Lord Hanuman and Balaji. This famous tourist spot can be reached by local buses, taxis and cars and the main attraction are the fresh water springs in this location. ArchitectureThe structure of this magnificent temple resembles that if a Haveli or mansion. The Galtaji temple has been built using pink sandstone and sits aesthetically on top of a hill. It has rounded roofs, painted walls and the most exquisitely carved pillars. The landscape around the location is natural and lush green which offers a striking view of the plains in the surrounding areas. There are several temples present in the Galtaji temple complex. There are also several natural springs, pavilions and holy kunds that you should visit without fail. AttractionsThe main attraction of the Galtaji temple is its picturesque locale, natural springs and the religious importance of the place. This is considered a very holy place, as Saint Galab spent his entire life meditating here. To commemorate the great saint, the temple was later built by the courtier of Sawai Jai Singh II, called Diwan Rao Kriparam. One of the most famous temples in this complex is dedicated to the Sun God and is present on top of a hill. Another temple that stands out in the Galtaji complex is the Hanuman temple where tourists can find several monkeys too. The water from the natural springs in the temple is accumulated in kunds or tanks. These tanks never go dry, even in the driest days of Jaipur. The holiest amongst them in the Galta Kund. It is believed that bathing in the holy water washes away the sins. Makar Sakranti is considered to be the most auspicious day for a dip in the holy water. Some of the other famous temples present in the vicinity are the Krishna temple, the Balaji Temple and Sita Ram temple.
